Pipes, at Harvard.

February 28: Lecture by Prof. William Yale, “The Armenian Role in the Intellectual Awakening of the Middle East,” at Brown University. Sponsored by the Providence Section of NAASR. April 8: Lecture by Prof. William Yale, “The Armenian Role in the Intellectual Awakening of the Middle East,” at Cilician Armenian Memorial Church, Watertown. May 17-18: Fourth Annual Assembly of Members held at Harvard’s Memorial Hall and symposium is held on “The Fascination of Armenian History” with Nina Garsoian, Emmannuel Varandyan, and other scholars. November 21: NAASR sponsors lecture by Prof. E. F. Sekler of Harvard University on “Aspects of Armenian Architecture.”

May 11-12: Third Annual Assembly of Members held at Waldorf-Astoria in New York City with keynote address by Dr. Avedis K. Sanjian.

March 2: NAASR holds first public meeting and announces its intention to raise $300,000 from the Armenian community for an endowed chair in Armenian Studies at Harvard University. Frye, “The Armenians and the Mongols During the Reign of King Hetoum I of Cilician Armenia, 1226-1270,” at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Cambridge, MA. June 11-12: NAASR holds its First Assembly of Members in Cambridge, formally adopts a Constitution, clarifies its objectives, and elects a fifteen-member Board of Directors.
